Ryan,
I'll provide some additional information and leave that decision to you.
If you are not opening or saving .FRZ files (this is an older FRx file
format), you can ignore the ZIPUTL32.DLL error altogether. If you are using
these files, I would recommend upgrading to SP9 to continue using them.
Otherwise, the upgrade to SP9 includes the following advantages:
1) SP9 is the first release of FRx that will run completely as a
least-privileged user account. This is true for all supported versions of
Windows - 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista. If it's important to you that your FRx
users do not have administrative or power user permissions, this is a good
reason to upgrade. SP9 includes the Data Folder Migration Wizard which will
help you move data folders to non-restricted locations to accomplish this (if
necessary).
2) SP9 includes new Excel export functionality. The export of Formatted
Excel files is now MUCH faster for most reports, and some bugs were fixed in
this area as well. However, we did unfortunately introduce a bug - if your
output path has spaces and you use the "Activate workbook" option to
automatically open the generated file, Excel will fail to open the file (no
double quotes around the file path passed to Excel - we're embarassed this
got through, I assure you). You can work around the issue by changing the
output path to exclude spaces, or by turning off the Activate workbook option.
3) SP9 is the first FRx release to support Excel 2007 Office Open XML files.
Reports can read data from .XLS or .XLSX files, and reports can be generated
to either .XLS or .XLSX files.
Of course, this list is not all-inclusive of the changes and features in
SP9, but I've included these because they're bigger changes that might
influence your decision.
I hope this helps!
Thank you,
Jeff

Post by Ryan VargasJeff,
Thanks for the reply. If we're not running Vista right now, but only run XP
and 2003, do you recommend that I patch to FRx SP9?
Thanks again.

Post by Jeff Cutting [MSFT]Hello,
I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I thought I'd provide additional
information for anyone who may need it.
Ziputl32.dll is an obsolete DLL we used with FRx 6.7 (and prior versions)
for opening and saving .FRV files prior to SP9. This DLL used an older
version of the Microsoft Visual Basic runtime (MSVBVM50.DLL) that is no
longer installed or supported with Windows Vista. We have since removed
ZIPUTL32.DLL with service pack 9, but CDs created prior to that will display
this error when FRx is installed on Windows Vista.
1) Click OK - you do not need to worry about the error.
2) After the installation has completed, download and install FRx 6.7
Service Pack 9. Service Pack 9 is the first FRx 6.7 release that is
supported with Windows Vista.
I hope this helps.
Thank you,
Jeff

Post by Ryan VargasI called (and paid) for support regarding this issue. The Microsoft tech
said that this is NOT an issue. As long as the file 'ziputl32.dll' is in the
correct path, then the application will work without an issue.
The tech said they know about this problem, but they don't have a fix
because it's not posing a problem.
I am now running my installation of FRx 6.7 with this error on a Citrix farm
and so far no problems.
I hope this helps.
Post by DJansonAdd me to the list of people with this same problem. I'm trying to install
FRx 6.7 from the CD to a PC running Vista and I'm getting this error. I
tried running 'regsvr32' to register and unregister it and says the module
failed to load.
I then installed SP9 with no error messages and I am able to open the
application, however, when I try to generate a report I'm not getting this
Run-time error ‘-2147220503(800403e9)
C:\Progra~1\FRXSOF~1\FRX6~1.7\REPORT~2\FRxXML4.dat not found
Not sure if this is related or not.

Post by RVargasI'm trying to install FRx 6.7, and mid-way through the setup process, I
received an error that "ziputl32.dll" did not register. I called support and
they said to copy an existing installation of ziputl32.dll from another
workstation and copy it to the new target computer, then run regsvr32.exe. I
tried that and it still won't register.
Has anyone seen or experienced this problem? Any help is greatly
appreciated. Thank you.
